About Mrs. Volk: As far as school goes, this is my 16th year of teaching. I spent 12 years over at Peterson Elementary where I was the 3rd grade GATE teacher. This will be my 4th year here at Hawes! I have a Master's Degree in integrating technology into the classroom, which I love! As you will see, we will be doing lots of "techy" things this year. It's fun! I promise! I am married with two children. Kevin is in the 7th grade at Sowers, and Katie is in 4th grade here at Hawes. My hobbies include playing softball (I've played since I was a kid, in college, and have been on the same women's team for 15 years), swimming, and walking. You can usually find me attending my kids' sports activities, watching Dodger baseball games (even during the bad seasons), attending UCI soccer games (because my husband is on the coaching staff), and rushing through the Starbucks drive-thru on my way to school or my other various activities. Many of you already know this, but Mrs. Borns and I are cousins. Our moms are sisters, and we were college roommates at SDSU way back when. It is tons of fun for us to teach right next door to each other!
