Technology Challenge! Every few weeks I will post a new challenge for you that uses your new technology skills. This is completely voluntary and you will not be graded. However, students who complete the challenge will receive 5 classroom tickets to praise their willingness to go 'above and beyond'. Challenge #10 Valentine's Day Challenge (a bit late) In honor of Valentine's Day, here is a challenge that integrates writing with technology: Go to the link below. In the box, delete the words already in it, and write your own. Write about what love means to you or things that you love. The more you write the more shape your heart will take. When you are done, click on "Layout text" It will take your words and arrange them into a heart. Print it out and bring it into class for your tickets! Challenge #6 Last week, we learned how to create a PowerPoint. I showed the kids how to format and design slides. We learned how to import pictures to use in the PowerPoint and how to use them as a background. Next week, we will learn how to use custom animation. For your challenge, create your own PowerPoint on a topic of your choice. Try to make all of the slide have a different background. I have all of your flash drives here at school. Bring your PowerPoint into school on your flash drive for us to view.

We also learned how to select and save a paint picture onto a word document. See if you can remember how to do this....Print and bring in your picture for 5 tickets. But, remember to make your picture small so it doesn't use up tons of ink! I'm putting a sample in the files below.
Challenge #4 Go to our Frindle wiki and post discussion questions or comments on at least 5 of your classmates' pages. If someone posts a questions on your page, make sure to a answer them. Remember that you must 'sign in' to the wiki in order to post on the discussion page. In class, we learned how to post to a discussion page....so I hope you remember how! If not, just shoot me an email!
Challenge #3 Our class is creating a wiki about the book Frindle. Each student has his/her own page of the wiki to do the following: 1. Create your very own word (like in the book). 2. Tell how you will launch the word....like Nick did at the Penny Pantry. 3. Tell what problems you anticipate running into...like Mrs. Granger for Nick. 4. Tell what parallels will there be with the book Frindle...I hope you were listening!!! 5. Tell what effects the new word will have on your life. Challenge #2 Wordle
We have been learning a little bit about The Constitution and The Amendments. Create a Wordle listing as many ideas as you can think of about the Constitution. You may need to go online and refresh your memory. 1. Go to www.wordle.net 2. Click on "Create Your Own" 3. Write your ideas inside the box. The more the better! Make sure to put at least 10 different words inside your Wordle. 4. If you want a word to appear larger than others, write the word more than once. The more times you type the word, the larger it will appear in your final wordle. 5. When you finish, click "Go" below the box. 6. Use the top tool bar to change the layout, font, color scheme, etc. 7. Play around to make it exactly like you want it. If you leave the screen you will lose the wordle! 8. Print it out and bring it to Mrs. Volk for tickets! 9. Have fun! Internet Safety Issue!!! Do NOT save the wordle to the public gallery without asking your parents. You can print it without saving it.
